WENFN Community Potluck — A Tasty Exploration of Local Food Cycles (Oct 19)

Sustenance Festival 2014 logoWest End Neighbourhood Food Network Community Potluck — A Tasty Exploration of Local Food Cycles
(Part of the Sustenance Festival – A city-wide food-inspired festival, October 5 to 19, 2014, Vancouver, BC)

Sunday October 19 (1-3pm)
West End Community Centre, 870 Denman St (Bidwell Rm)

How many aspects of a local food loop (production, preparation, consumption, composting, and education) can we incorporate into one meal?

For example, growing food for the meal and composting the food scraps and recycling the packaging.

Join us for a tasty, celebratory and educational community potluck where everyone’s encouraged to grow some food or ingredients for the potluck and tell us about your experiences growing and preparing your contribution to the meal. (Home grown food is great, but anything you bring is completely welcome!) The food scraps will be composted through the WE Food Scraps Drop Spot at the Community Centre (co-sponsored by WENFN), plastic packaging will be recycled through Village Vancouver‘s Plastic Recycling Depot, and free seeds are available in advance from the WENFN seed library to help you grow your potluck offering! For more about the whole Sustenance Festival, please visit http://sustenancefestival.ca/.

Free.

Please bring cup, plate, utensils (if convenient for you).

Registration: http://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/west-end-community-centre.aspx (Activity #45809.401).
