Enjoy this workshop presented by Village Vancouver. Want to grow food but don’t have much room? In this course we’ll cover the techniques and challenges specific to gardening in small spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Peas and Greens Workshop
West End Neighbourhood Food Network presents Peas and Greens. Grow your own ingredients for a hearty salad outside in a sunny spot, be it balcony or back yard! You’ll come away with the knowledge and seeds to plant, grow, pick, and eat peas, greens (such as pac choi, beets, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, and kale) and chives right now!. WENFN will have a seed library present and you’ll be able to get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds. (Come a little early for best selection.) Instructor: Rhiannon Johnson.

Carrots, Leeks, and Greens Workshop
WENFN presents Carrots, Leeks, and Greens. Grow your own ingredients for a hearty salad outside in a sunny spot, be it balcony or back yard!  You will come away with the knowledge to plant, grow, pick, and eat carrots, greens (such as pac choi, beets, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, and kale) and leeks right now!  Bring a description of your growing area including measurements and we’ll plan your summer salad!  WENFN will have a seed library present – if you come a little early, you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds. Instructor: Rhiannon Johnson

Building Your Garden’s Soil
Enjoy this workshop presented by Village Vancouver. Come learn how to build your soil for a healthy vibrant veggie garden! Ever wonder what’s so special about soil? Or what you can do to make your soil even more fertile? Soil is the foundation of a terrific veggie garden – it provides the nutrients, stability, and resilience for healthy plants for greater tolerance of storms, rainfall, heat, drought, disease, or pests. You are welcome to bring a 1 L + CLEAR container at least half full of YOUR garden soil for some simple tests to learn specifically about your garden’s soil and how to improve it. VV will have a seed library present – if you come a little early, you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds. For further information, please contact Ross Moster at ross@villagevancouver.ca, or visit http://www.villagevancouver.ca. Instructor: Rhiannon Johnson

West End February Food Scrap Drop Spots at Gordon Neighbourhood House & West End Community Centre
Every Tuesday and Saturday our volunteers receive food scraps from hundreds of the 45,000 residents in the West End. The take since June 2012 now totals over 50 tonnes of food scraps for composting to be recycled back into growing, also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Organized by West End Neighbourhood Food Network, Recycling Alternative, and Village Vancouver. Hosted by GNH and WECC.
