Event Description:
This Village Vancouver- WE Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Rhiannon Johnson covers the basics of planning, preparing, and planting a bountiful Spring veggie garden, including simple techniques for starting plants indoors and in the garden, tailored to your space. We’ll discuss annuals, biennials, and perennials, pollinator-friendly plants and gardens, companion planting, and permaculture. Includes a hands-on planting activity — you’ll take home a pot of planted seeds to help you get a head start on your garden this spring. Advance registration encouraged.

We’ll have the West End community seed library there – pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds or plants.

Event Description:
Join WE Neighbourhood Food Network and Village Vancouver at our monthly family friendly gatherings. Bring something yummy, share some good food and conversation with neighbours, and pick up a 2018-19 West End Urban Garden Calendar.This month’s workshop is Growing Japanese Spring Vegetables (and we’ll also talk a little bit about Edible Flowers). We’ll have the West End community seed library there – pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds or plants.

The Food Network’s WE Urban Garden Club meets after the potluck until 3:30. Join us in exploring possibilities for creating a new community garden and other gardening spaces in the West End. This month’s topic is What are you planting this year? In addition, our WeBee pollinators group will be giving out Mason bee houses (while supplies last), we’ll hear from our Seed Savers group, and we’ll discuss potential new workshops and activities. All ages welcome, and you don’t have to have a garden to attend!
