Community Potluck, Seed & Plant Swap & Workshop

Join West End Neighbourhood Food Network and Village Vancouver at our monthly family friendly gatherings. Bring something yummy and share some good food and conversation with neighbours, and pick up a West End Urban Garden Calendar We’ll have a community seed library there – pick up some free seeds for your garden, or swap or donate seeds or plants. 2018-19 West End Urban Gardening Calendars will also be available. Each month we present a mini-workshop on a different food and/or gardening related topic: September – Growing Winter Herbs! (Everyone’s invited to bring your gardening photos to share!), October –  Herbal Teas, November – Making Holiday Wreaths and Other Seasonal Items   Advance registration encouraged.

“DIY” Accessories for Miniature Gardens

Miniature gardens are tiny green spaces that brighten up our surroundings. They can be made more cheerful by adding accessories. In this West End Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Rashmi GC you’ll learn about cute DIY projects that can be added to your mini gardens. All raw materials will be provided, and participants will have the opportunity to make an accessory and take it home. Suitable for adults, as well as kids 10 years and over who are accompanied by a caregiver. Advance registration required. FREE for Seniors (50 and over). Continue reading

Join West End Neighbourhood Food Network and Village Vancouver at our monthly family friendly gathering. Bring something yummy and share some good food and conversation with neighbours. We’ll have a seed library there – you can get some free seeds for your garden, or swap or donate seeds or plants. This month the potluck mini-workshop will discuss Pollinators.

The Food Network’s WE Urban Garden Club meets from 2:30-3:30 after the potluck/workshop. Join us in exploring possibilities for creating a new community garden and other gardening spaces in the West End. This month’s topic, presented by our WeBee group, is Creating a Pollinator Corridor in the West End. We’ll also hear from our Seed Savers group, and discuss potential new workshops and activities. All ages welcome!

Canada’s Ministry of Health is taking public comments before it makes its final decision in three weeks. The pesticide industry has promised to fight hard to stop it — so we need to add our voices now.
